Mining: BAUXITE MINERAL
Bauxite is a raw material that is mainly used in the production of aluminum. The bauxite mineral is refined into alumina before being melted into aluminum. The quality of the bauxite mineral is determined by its available alumina (Al2O3) content. The presence of impurities, which make the mineral more difficult to refine, is taken into account when classifying the quality of the mineral.
The most significant industrial mineral is “bauxite” with a content between 55% and 65% of alumina (aluminum oxide Al2O3), which is located mainly in the tropical zone. This mineral was discovered by M.Pierre Berthier who named it after the place where he found it, the village of Les Baux de Provence, in Arles, southern France.
Bauxite is the rock from which more aluminum is extracted (20/30% by mass), since it is composed of hydrated aluminum oxides. The bauxite extraction process is by open-pit mining and there are various processes that are applied to the bauxite to obtain liquefied aluminum, which is what we will use to obtain aluminum as a thin material. During these processes, the bauxite is dissolved with sodium hydroxide (Bayer process) and finally the elements are separated by electrolysis.
Currently, bauxite mines are located mostly in tropical and subtropical regions. Guinea, Brazil, Jamaica or Australia are at the forefront of the countries where the most bauxite is extracted worldwide. It is estimated that to get one ton of aluminum it is necessary to process about four tons of bauxite.

Mining: MANGANESE ORE
The main metal to create a steel with high mechanical strength, strength and strength. Irreplaceable in its application, this metal becomes very important in the chain of heavy equipment. Not only with these uses, but it is also used as cathode material in batteries and in the production of fertilizers and micronutrients for agribusiness.
Considered as a gammogenic element that favors tempering, in general it is rare that its content exceeds 2% in weldable steels and is an energy disoxidant, and constitutes an important element in the electrodes and in the contribution rods due to its favorable reactions with the liquid metal.
In steels that contain at least 0.3 to 1.5% Mn, it favors the disoxidation of steel, prevents iron sulfide inclusions and increases the hardening capacity. The presence of manganese increases the solubility of carbon in resistance by facilitating the formation of carbides.
